During my studies in the Equine Sciences Academy, I learned about "Paddock Paradise". It is also known as a "Track System" and is a way to set your horse property up to give horses the opportunity to move more. The book: Paddock Paradise- A guide to Natural Horse Boarding, by Jaime Jackson was where it all started. In 2009, I began to set one up for my horses, and they have lived on this system ever since. I have offered many clinics over the years to teach others how to set this up for their horses. You can see highlights from these events on the Clinics and Presentations page. When you have a small tract of land, you can make it seem bigger with this system. It's great for horses as well as your land. I strongly encourage you to get the book (Star Ridge Publishing).
Below are pictures of my horses thriving in their Paddock Paradise. It has and continues to evolve. We had a bridge at a narrow part of the stream from the water hole until a flood damaged it. Sometimes at night I could hear them walking across the bridge into the woods.
We also put crush run and different types of gravel and sand for a varied terrain on the track. When there were 5 horses moving around in this space, my trimming was minimal. And... that is the key to the success of giving the horses the space and the company to move like a herd as nature intended.
